"Sources like EUobserver are key for the survival of our democracy"
Reader comment, 2025
True independence is rare.
With authoritarianism, populism and misinformation on the rise, finding reliable and non-partisan journalism is becoming harder for citizens and institutions alike.
EUobserver is not owned by corporation, state or billionaire – our only loyalty is to the truth and our readers.
We are known for a values-driven news environment – EUobserver’s independence means readers trust what they read.
Brands partnering with us share in that trust.
Who we are
Independent & Non-Profit: EUobserver is a not-for-profit, independent online newspaper established in Brussels in 2000. We are member-supported and not owned by corporations or billionaires. No EU institution or big media conglomerate dictates our coverage
Focused on underreported EU affairs: We cover the European Union in depth, shedding light on EU decisions, policies, and debates that others overlook. Our civic journalism gives a voice to those not heard and keeps power in check, always from a pan-European perspective.
Mission-Driven: As a newsroom dedicated solely to EU affairs, we fill the gap between Brussels decision-makers and the people they serve. Our goal is to support European democracy by equipping citizens and institutions with the information they need to hold the EU establishment to account.
Investigative. Influential. Independent.
